Volunteering at the Haslewey
We rely on our dedicated army of volunteers to help run our community centre. Do you have a few spare hours a week to lend a hand to our community? Help out at the Haslewey Community Centre! We have volunteering opportunities in several different roles.
We provide full training and are happy to have volunteers on a regular or occasional cover basis for the different days and time slots available – whatever suits you. In addition, we offer our volunteers a 10% discount at the café – a gesture of thanks for all the help our volunteers donate to the centre.
Reception
Our reception volunteers sit on our reception desk and are the face of the Haslewey. They help with telephone enquiries, book appointments, greet customers and give a warm welcome to all our visitors and regular users.
Café
The Wey Terrace & Café is a fun and vibrant community café with a warm welcome for all. Open from 9am to 3pm, Monday to Friday, it is a place for people of all ages and walks of life.
We need friendly and practical volunteers with a good sense of humour to help in the different roles within the team – from setting up and clearing down the dining room, taking meal orders and making drinks behind the café counter, to waiting on tables or helping in the kitchen and, of course, the washing up too!
Community Meals
If you think you would enjoy to go out to visit people in their homes, you could help vulnerable people in Haslemere, Grayshott, Grayswood, Witley and Milford by delivering their Community Meals. Whether you have just 1 hour a week or can help several times a week, our Community Meals volunteers are such an important part of our service. For our clients, who depend on this service, a quick chat, a warm hello and seeing a friendly face can make all the difference.
Fundraising
The Haslewey has a fantastic fundraising committee who organise and run events raising funds for the community centre. We need volunteers to assist the fundraising committee at events as waiters, bar staff, stewards, ticket sellers and many additional roles.
DIY
The Haslewey is a building for the benefit of the community and, as such, it needs constant maintenance. Doors, windows, fencing and many other areas need maintaining. If you have any plumbing, electrics, carpentry or other practical experience, please get in touch.
